~Chapter 10: Cabin Eleven~

That night after the sing-a-long, Nyla showed me to Cabin Eleven, the Hermes cabin. She explained that not only is he the god of thieves, but of travelers too. They take in new campers who are undetermined.

She walked in and was suddenly tackled into a bear hug by a guy with shaggy brown hair, blue eyes, and a matching shaggy beard and mustache. He had a mischievous on his face and up-turned eyebrows. He looked like he was in his thirties but he acted like a teenager.

"Nyla, I missed you." He said as he spun her around in a circle. "I knew you would come and visit."

"I didn't' come to visit you Travis." She said trying to push him away by his face. "And if you don't put me down right now and give me back my wallet, I am going to stab you in the eye with my finger."

"Geez, no need to be so grumpy." Travis muttered setting her down.

"Then stop thinking that I have a crush on you." She ordered, holding out her hand. "Now hand over my wallet."

Travis groaned and reluctantly handed Nyla her wallet. Nyla did an "Ahem" sound and tapped her foot. He sighed and pulled out a couple of bills from his pocket. He slapped it into her hand and Nyla wrapped her fingers around the cash.

"Thank you." She smiled evilly. "Now, this is Genesis, and she's an undetermined."

"Oh, well in that case, welcome to Cabin Eleven. Or more commonly known as, the Hermes Cabin." He smiled.

"Thanks." I answered simply.

"I'll see you tomorrow morning." Nyla said before she left.

Travis showed me to an empty bunk and said I could have the bottom. He also said to be careful with my personal belongings or else they would be there one minute and gone the next. I nodded in understanding and he left me alone. I climbed up onto the bed and pressed my back against the wall.

I was tired. Not only from all of today's events, but because of the past couple of days. I pulled my knees to my chest and rested my forehead on my knees. I was a little uncomfortable in this situation.

I was in a cabin where everyone else shared the same dad, while I was didn't know who my godly parent was, but I had a horrible feeling I knew who it was. I heard someone knock on the metal bunk, and I looked up. Xander was standing in front of me, leaning against the frame of the bunk with a warm smile on his face.

"Can I sit?" He asked in a smooth, really boyish voice.

"Sure." I said as I scooted over so he could sit down.

"I'm Xander" He grinned. "You can call me anything you like though. X, Xan, Ander, whatever floats you're boat."

I laughed, "I'm Genesis, but you can call me Gen."

"So, how you liking camp?" He leaned his head back until it hit the wall.

"It's...different." I kind of didn't know what to think. This was all new to me and I was having a tough time taking everything in.

"Yeah, the whole half-blood thing takes a while to settle in."

"That's not what I meant." I was talking about the whole Fates thing and Empusa accident. I was pretty sure no one else had problems like that.

"What do you mean?" He looked at me and I just shook my head.

"It' nothing." I assured him, letting out a small yawn. "I'm think I'm going to go to sleep now."

"Alright." He scooted of the bed and stood up to leave, but before he did he looked back at me. "It was nice meeting you."

I flinched. He was nicer than Nyla made him out to be. I wondered if it was all an act or if he was telling the truth. I wanted to reply with something witty, but I just nodded and gave him a small smile.

"You too." I replied.

He left me alone and I took off my boots. I set them on the side of my bed along with belt. I pulled the rubber band that kept my hair in a ponytail out and shook my hair free. My caramel locks flowed down to my sides and I ran my fingers through it. I leaned back and rested my head on the pillow.

I turned to my side and faced the wall. I didn't go to sleep. I waited for the sound of everyone else to turn in. Soon, their laughing and chatting turned into the sound of their rhythmic breathing. Then, I started to drift into a deep, dreamless sleep. The best sleep I've had in the past three years.
